The government had taken initiatives to reopen the educational institutions on several occasions but it had to change its decisions in the wake of a severe surge in coronavirus case. As we do not know when the coronavirus situation will be improved, we think the government must have a specific plan that clearly will outline how academic activities will run during this pro-long shut.

Therefore, we believe the high command of the government, education ministry, university authorities, academics and experts will identify, define, and understand the crisis properly and take prudent steps accordingly.

When the education ministry assures reopening of primary, high schools, colleges and universities in phases, it creates a ray of hope among the captive students. But the ongoing closure has also been extended till June 30 again to protect students from coronavirus infection. We think this repeated same news regarding extension of holidays is disheartening the students, making them lose so much confidence.

It has become more than a necessity to layout

a road map to continue the academic activities

amid coronavirus pandemic

Besides, the public and national universities authorities have not made their stand clear before the students yet whether they would conduct online examinations or physical examinations when the educational institutions open again. On the other hand, the students have become desperate to go to their respective campuses as they are bored, frustrated and devastated due to staying homes for a long time. As students have already fallen behind in their academic journey, the decision of when and how to reopen educational institutions should get the priority.

We think after the completion of double-dose vaccination of an estimated about four crores students, the government should instruct authorities concerned to reopen educational institutions. We believe if the plan is specified it will definitely help the country’s education sector overcome the disastrous situation.  Simultaneously, it has become more than a necessity to layout a road map to continue the academic activities amid coronavirus pandemic.
