Shubachan Natya Shangshad staged their acclaimed theatrical production ‘Mohajoner Nao’ yesterday evening at the Experimental Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) in Segun Bagicha of the capital.

The story, based on the life and philosophy of the late Baul Samrat Shah Abdul Karim, is written by Shakoor Majid and directed as well as choreographed by Sudip Chakroborty.

The 33rd production of Subachan narrates the story of Shah Abdul Karim and his journey to the realm of music through different sequences based on his biography.

The Baul Samrat showed signs of his musical talents from a young age, and though his schooling was not extensive, he went on to become one of the most acclaimed folk musicians of his time, who wrote and composed over 1600 songs. Six books have been published by the Bangla Academy till the date of his songs, and ten of his songs have also been translated into English and published as a separate compilation by the Academy.
