Recitation organisation Shongbrita Abritti Chorcha O Bikash Kendro organised a two-day festival at Shawkat Osman Memorial Auditorium of Sufia Kamal National Public Library on Friday and Saturday.
The two- day event featured recitation competition, cultural show and others.
Deputy minister for education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury was present as chief guest, while eminent recitation artiste Ahkam Ullah and general secretary of Sammilita Sangskritik Jote Hassan Arif, among others, were present as guests at the inaugural ceremony, presided over by general secretary of Shongbrita Shamsuzzaman Babu.
Shongbrita artistes entertained the audience staging group performances like ‘Shonkocher Oi Bihobolata Nijer Opoman’, ‘Brishti Porey Tapur Tupur’, ‘Janani Jonmo Bhumi Amar’ and others.
In solos, renowned artistes including Mir Barkat, Nazmul Ahsan, Majumdar Biplob, Monirul Islam, Rafiqul Islam, Masum Azizul Bashar and others recited poems.
On Saturday, Shongbrita distributed awards among students who participated in a recitation competition. The winners received the awards namely Kabi Shamsur Rahman Padak, Shilpi Waheedul Haq Padak, Naren Biswas Padak and Golam Mostafa Padak. Besides, Ashraful Islam, Hasan Arif, Masuduzaman, Ahsan Tomal and others presented solo recitations.
The two-day festival ended with solo recitation by West Bengal-based recitation artiste Munmun Mukherjee.
