Sholakia Eidgah Jamaat to begin at 9 am

Historic Sholakia Eidgah Jamaat will start at 9 am. He told reporters after inspecting the grounds of Eidgah Management Committee Chairman and Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Shamim Alam that the Eid-ul-Azha prayers would be completed smoothly and smoothly. The 195th congregation of Eid-ul-Azha at the historic Eidgah maintaining a long-running tradition.

Police Super Md. Mashrukur Rahman Khaled BPM (Bar) said that, different intelligence agencies and additional police will be deployed for extra security in Eid Jamaat. 2 Platon BGBs are being deployed along with the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in this year's attack on Sholakia. 

Maulana Farid Uddin Mashud is scheduled to conduct the Eid Jamaat this year. A special munajat will also be offered seeking divine blessings for peace, development and welfare of the people of the country as well as Muslim Ummah.

The first Eid congregation on this ground was held in 1828 when a local Dewan, called Syed Ahmed (R) of Haibatnagar Dewan Bari of the town, conducted Eid Jamaat on one of the fields of his own ‘Taluk’ (revenue zone). This later became known in history as the Sholakia Eidgah.

The name Sholakia comes from Shoa Lakh, meaning one lakh twenty-five thousand being the number of people that had come to offer their Eid-ul-Azha prayers at the Eidgah at first time. 

The surrounding area was also named Sholakia afterwards. Later, another Dewan, Mannan Dad Khan, gave 4.35 acres of land for the Eidgah in 1950. However, according to sources, the Sholakia Eidgah now has about 7.00 acres of land. The Eidgah stands on the bank of the Narsunda River and is known throughout the continent for the large number of devotees who come here every year for saying their Eid prayers.

Two special trains "Sholakia Express" will operate on Bhairab-Kishoreganj and Kishoreganj-Mymensingh routes to facilitate the movement of Sholakia-bound Muslim devotees.

In that time Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT) Mohammad Golam Mostafa, Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Eidgah Committee Secretary Mohammad Ali Siddique, Kishoreganj Municipality Mayor Md. Parvez Miah, Additional Police Super (Admin) Mustak Sarker, Additional Police Super (Crime) Nur-e-Alam, Additional Police Super Anirban Chowhdury, Additional Police Super (Sadar Circle) Al-Amin, Kishoreganj Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Doud and others officials were also present.
