Connoisseurs of music were enthralled by the majestic performances of Shironamhin in Dhaka on Thursday night, as the popular Bangladeshi band played their most popular tracks one after another alongside the Mumbai-based Symphony Orchestra.
Celebrating 25 years of togetherness, Shironamhin’s final concert of their year-long silver jubilee celebrations was held in Dhaka's International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) on Thursday night.
The 6 to 10.30pm special concert was arranged in collaboration with Brandmyth Experiential, a marketing communication agency.
The band was joined by some of the iconic rockstars of Bangladesh, including Bappa Mazumder from Dalchhut, George Lincoln D'Costa from Artcell, Raef Al Hasan Rafa from Avoidrafa, Rahul Anand from Joler Gaan, Syed Ziaur Rahman Turjo and Iqbal Asif Jewel from Miles.
Palash Noor from Warfaze, Bakhtiar Hossain from the Bay of Bengal, Probar Ripon from Sonar Bangla Circus, the team of Ghaashphoring Choir were among others who performed alongside Shironamhim on some of the band's most well-known songs.
Starting its journey back in 1996 with its debut album ‘Jahaji,’ Shironamhin became immensely popular with its iconic tracks like ”Bhalobasha Megh,” “Cafeteria,” “Pakhi,” “Bondho Janala,” “Abar Hashimukh,” “Ichhe Ghuri,” “Bullet Kingba Kobita,” “Nishchup Adhar,” “Ei Obelay,” “Bangladesh,” and their tribute to Rabindranath Tagore with “Purano Shei Din er Kotha".
“Shironamhin is a name that represents nostalgia for me and my friends. We used to play and sing along with the songs back in our university days, and today we are really happy that the band has successfully made it this far,” Saiful Islam, a banker who came to the show with his friends, told UNB.
Shironamhin founder and bass guitarist Ziaur Rahman Zia thanked all the attendees for showering the band with enormous love and support throughout the years.
“You have made Shironamhin a legendary band in Bangladesh, and we are so fortunate and proud today to have all of you among us. We ensure that this legacy will continue and the band will still be around, even after years when we’re gone,” Zia told the audience at the concert.
Shironamhin could not celebrate its silver jubilee last year due to the pandemic. This year, the band celebrated its 25th anniversary through several concerts at home and beyond. It also released new songs and videos as part of the year-long celebrations.
The concert ended with all the singers and performers singing the National Anthem -- “Amar Sonar Bangla,” sending the crowd happy with golden memories of the night.
