You are going to work on a new movie after a long time. Tell us about the movie-
I am going to work on a new film after three years. Its name is ‘Birotto’. I really like the story. The work has been discussed for the last six months. Finally the signing has been done. If everything goes well, the shooting will start in Rajbari next October. It will be a movie based on a true story. The story will continue based on trafficking of women. In 2017, I worked on the last movie. My last picture was ‘Dhushor Kuasha’.
Why haven't you worked in cinema for so long? Didn't you get a story you wanted or was it that you didn’t get a new movie offer?
It's not that I didn't get movie offers. I have received job offers in several films in these three years. I didn't get the story I wanted and I took so long because of my busy schedule. I am also an actress. I like acting. My career in film is also long. So I am always waiting for a good character.
Is there any new movie news?
I have heard the story of 3/4 new movies. I liked some of them. I have not finalized the work yet. I want to do the things that I like.
The government is giving Tk 700 crore incentive for the development of the film. What are your thoughts on this subject?
This is great news for our movies. Special thanks to the government. I am especially grateful to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina because I believe that with the proper application of this money, our cinema will turn around beautifully again. And those of us seniors who have been away from the movies for so long, this time we will also return to the cinema. Cinema halls will be renovated. All in all, our movie will be a good industry again.
Other organizations in the film have formed hostile relations with the Shilpi Samiti. How do you see it?
In fact, the Shilpi Samiti has no value without movies. If I don't make movies, how can I introduce myself as an artiste? All kinds of artistes are needed to make movies.
Movies are not just about heroes and heroines. Senior and junior artists are also needed. Of these, 184 artistes have been excluded from the Shilpi Samiti. They are also protesting against it. All in all, it's a pitiful situation. Hopefully this hostile relationship will end soon.
How your business is doing now-
My business was completely closed during the lockdown. At that time I regularly paid my employees their salary. Corona has done a lot of damage to businesses. Now I have opened it once again. We are working according to the hygiene rules. Hopefully the situation will return to normal soon.
