Sheikh Sadi Khan’s birthday today

Today is the birthday of musician Sheikh Sadi Khan, the legendary, Ekushey Padak winner of Bangladesh. The famous musician is stepping foot in his 70th year today.

He said that there was no special arrangement on behalf of his family on this special day. Sheikh Sadi Khan will celebrate the day in a very domestic manner.

Before the liberation of the country, Sabina Yasmin’s sister Fauzia Khan first performed Sheikh Sadi Khan’s first melodious song ‘Ja Jare JarePaki’. The late Abdul Jabbar and Aarti Dhar gave voice to Sheikh Sadi Khan’s tunes on the television show ‘Sur Sagor’, produced by Mostafa Kamal Syed. At the same time, Shawkat Hayat Khan and Moushumi Kabir sang four songs in Sheikh Sadi Khan’s melody at HMV. In 1980, he worked as the music director of the movie ‘Ekhoni Somoy’ under the direction of the late Abdullah Al Mamun. Later, among the popular songs of this country which has attracted music lovers are ‘Dake Pakhi Kholo Ankhi’, Hajar Moner Kache Proshno Rekhe’, ‘Amar Moner Akhashe Aj’, ‘Kal Shara Rat Chhilo’, ‘Amar Ei Duti Chokh Pathorto Noy’, ‘Bhalobashlei Shobar Shathe Ghar Badha Jae Na’, ‘Tumi Roj Bikele’, ‘Ami Chiro Kal Premero Kangal’ and many more. 

He has worked as music director in more than 105 films so far and has made more than 3,000 songs. He has been honored with the National Film Award for directing the music of the movie ‘Ghani’ by Kazi Morshed and ‘Bhalobashlei Ghar Badha Jae Na’ by Zakir Hossain Raju. In 2018 he was awarded the Ekushey Padak. 

Last year, Sheikh Sadi Khan served as the music director of the movie ‘Bandhob and ‘Padmar Prem’.

Regarding the birthday, Sheikh Saadi Khan said, “I have turned 70 years old. It is not possible to live much longer. There are still many dreams to fulfill, some good things to do. But I am not get any chance to do those things. I have some wonderful plans. If we could do those things, our music would be even richer.”
