Sheikh Russel secure full three points

Former champions Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra started their Bangladesh Premier League mission with winning over Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondhi Club by 2-1 at Bashundhara Kings Arena on Saturday. 

The All Blues earned full three points from first outings when defending Champions Bashundhara Kings, Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) and Bangladesh Police FC, also began their campaign with winning note on Friday but the defending runners up Abahani Limited were forced to share points with Rahmatganj MFS in their opener on same day.

In the day’s lone match on Saturday, Shiekh Russel took the lead within five minutes of the match. Burundi’s striker Solemani netted after receiving a pass from Sumon Reza from left (1-0).  

Conceding the goal Sheikh Jamal defender Mahmudul Hasan Kiron was sent off just minutes before to finish the first half. Kiron pushed Jamal’s forward Sarwar Zaman Nipu who was heading into the box. Referee Saimun Sani showed red card to Kiron. Sheikh Jamal became 10-man rest of the match.  

After the interval, Sheikh Russel double their score through their Nigerian defender Atander’s slammed home his header on a Japan’s forward Kodai Lider corner on 55th. 

Sheikh Jamal reduced the margin in the 59th minutes when striker Kholmot pushed the ball into the box from close range having a cross from Sazzad. 

Meanwhile, Sheikh Russel’s coach Jugoslav Trenchovski also shown red card in the injury time of the second half for his miss conduct.
