Sheikh Kamal’s birth anniv celebrated in Pabna

The 71st birth anniversary of freedom fighter Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was celebrated in Pabna with due respect amid various arrangements on Wednesday.

Leaders of Awami League unit and its affiliated organizations laid wreaths at the portrait of Sheikh Kamal at the party office on Wednesday at the initiative of district AL unit. 

Pabna District AL unit GS Golam Faruk Prince MP, reserved women's seat MP Nadira Yasmin Jolly, Pabna District Council Chairman Rezaul Rahim Lal, Municipal Mayor Kamrul Hasan Mintu and other party leaders were present at the time. 

Later, prayers were offered for the salvation of souls of all the martyrs of August 15, including Shaheed Sheikh Kamal. 

Incidentally, Sheikh Kamal was born on 5 August 1949 in the village of Tungipara in the then Gopalganj subdivision.  He was brutally killed along with his whole family on the black night of August 15, 1975, at the age of 26, after by the assassins of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
