Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Wednesday said Shaheed Sheikh Kamal lived an ordinary life despite staying near the centre of power.
“Shaheed Sheikh Kamal was a visionary and deep thinker, generous and a greedless person who lived a very simple life despite being the son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” he said.
Quader, also the road transport and bridges minister, made the remarks while speaking at a virtual press conference from his official residence here after paying homage to Shaheed Sheikh Kamal at Abahani Club and Banani graveyard on the occasion of the 71st birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, reports BSS.
Quader said Kamal took sports and culture as a stair of self-realisation. As a member of the family of Father of the Nation and undisputed leader of the Bangalees Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the AL general secretary said, Kamal had closely observed the struggles of the Bangalee nation.
He said Sheikh Kamal realised that if sports and culture could be applied for the country’s socioeconomic and political development, everything would be welfare-oriented.
