Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar on Tuesday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has turned Bangladesh into a digital one with the visionary leadership as Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman initiated the process in 1973 to make the countrydigitalized, reports BSS.

“The inclusion of Bangladesh in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 1973 and the establishment of country’s first satellite earth station at Betbunia, Rangamati in 1975 by Bangabandhu and later on the prudent leadership of his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina turned Bangladesh into a digital one,” he said.

The minister was addressing a function as the chief guest organised by Bangladesh Pragatisheel Columnist Forum at National Press Club in the city. With Bangladesh Pragatisheel Columnist Forum convener Dr Mizanur Rahman in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by Security Analyst Major General (Rtd) AK Mohammed Ali Sikder, Dhaka University Pro Vice- Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Samad and former Secretary Md Nasir Uddin Ahmed.

The mantra of progressiveness is rooted in the core four principles of the Constitution drafted in Bangladesh after the Liberation War, the minister said, adding that the country is progressing under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as per the dream of her father Bangabandhu.
