Rajshahi city mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton has said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken the country to a new height.
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already proved her prudency, effectiveness, competence and skills in the global arena crossing the Bangladesh's boundary," he added.
Mayor Liton, who is also the Presidium Member of Bangladesh Awami League, came up with the observation while addressing a meeting and doa mahfil as the chief guest here last night.
City unit of the Bangladesh Awami League organized the meeting at its office to mark the Imprisonment Day of Awami League (AL) President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
With city unit president Muhammad Ali Kamal in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by general secretary Dablu Sarker, Senior vice president Shahin Akter Rainy, vice president Dr Tabibur Rahman Sheikh and organizing secretary Advocate Aslam Sarker.
Mayor Liton said many of the world leaders have become astonished with the development of Bangladesh led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The Padma Bridge has been self-financed.
Implementation works of ten mega projects are on the final stage. Delta Plan- 2100 has been adopted for long-term development of the country, he continued.
Referring to the imprisonment day of Awami League (AL) President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said it is not only the Imprisonment Day of Sheikh Hasina, but this day is the imprisonment day of the democracy of Bangladesh.
On that day, Sheikh Hasina was imprisoned, which also confined the country’s democracy, he added.
