Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said, "After entering Bangladesh on May 17, 1981, People's Leader Sheikh Hasina led the struggle for democracy in the country. Therefore, 17 May 1981 is not only the homecoming of Sheikh Hasina, but the homecoming of the flame of democracy.

He said, "After the return of People's Leader Sheikh Hasina, there has been a lot of improvement in the life of Bengalis, the life of the people of Bangladesh in the last 42 years, and Bangladesh has achieved a lot."

He said this while addressing a discussion meeting organized by Bangladesh Awami League on the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 43rd Homecoming Day at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Agargaon in the capital on Wednesday afternoon. General Secretary Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Presidium member Begum Matia Chowdhury, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Joint General Secretary Mahbubul-Alam Hanif, Afam Bahauddin Nashim, Dr Dipu Moni and others spoke in the meeting under the chairmanship of party presidium member Engineer Mosharraf Hossain MP.

Hasan Mahmud said, "After the killing of Bangabandhu in 1975, the spirit of independence was demolished, the Pakistani ideology was brought back to Bangladesh, and the non-communal spirit was destroyed." People's leader Sheikh Hasina has restored the lost spirit of freedom. Non-communal Bangladesh has been created again under the leadership of Bangabandhu.

The Broadcasting Minister said, 'Bangabandhu not only created this country, but he dreamed of a developed, prosperous country. He could not fulfill that dream. Because Bangabandhu was killed three and a half years after independence. Today, under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, the country has transformed into a food self-sufficient, food surplus country, from a less developed country to a middle income country. Today, under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina, we have long surpassed Pakistan in all indicators of human development, social, economic, health. Here is our success.

The information and broadcasting minister said, 'Ziaur Rahman was one of the main planners in killing Bangabandhu. And that Ziaur Rahman's wife Begum Khaleda Zia and her son on planned a grenade attack on the then Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina on August 21, 2004. Attempts to kill our leader have been repeatedly made 21 times. The dying leader Sheikh Hasina repeatedly returned from the valley of death, she did not hesitate or get upset, she did not stop, but she took the struggle of the people of Bangladesh forward in a more brilliant manner. I urge everyone to work unitedly to make Sheikh Hasina the winner in the next election.
