Mir Snigdha, the brother of slain activist Mir Mugdha, formally launched his political activities from Bogura, aligning himself with the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and issuing a strong call for the trial of current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The political debut began on Sunday when Snigdha, after paying respects at the Mahasthan Mazar, addressed journalists. He expressed his pride at being in Bogura, the birthplace of former President Ziaur Rahman, as a BNP worker.

"I am proud to be in the birthplace of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman as a BNP activist," Snigdha stated. "All BNP leaders and activists are committed to building a new Bangladesh, the dream for which the martyrs fought."

He explained his political motivations, saying, "I have some political aspirations, primarily to engage more young people in politics. I believe the BNP is the best platform to fulfill that aspiration. It is the largest political party, and through it, I can work on a larger scale for the families of martyrs, the injured, and the youth."

Snigdha also expressed his willingness to accept any role the party deems fit, adding, "If the party wants, and considers me worthy and good for the party, I will respect its decision."

Later, as the chief guest at a rally organized by the Shibganj Upazila and Municipal BNP, Snigdha delivered a more forceful speech. He made a direct and striking demand, calling for unity to ensure the trial of Sheikh Hasina within Bangladesh.

"We must all unite to ensure that Sheikh Hasina is tried on the soil of Bangladesh," Snigdha declared emphatically from the stage at the Shaheed Mir Mugdha Square.

He urged collective action to realize the BNP's acting chairman Tarique Rahman's 31-point demand. "We gained this country through the sacrifices of the July fighters and martyrs," he said. "To protect this country, the youth must play an active role in politics."

In a deeply emotional appeal, Snigdha drew parallels between his family's suffering and that of the Zia family. "Just as Begum Khaleda Zia cried beside the body of her son, my mother also cried over the body of Mir Mugdha. Yet, the government even obstructed us from burying my brother. I buried my brother with my own hands. But Tarique Rahman could not even see his brother's body."

Concluding his address, Snigdha called upon the youth to unite and lead the 'Sheaf of Paddy' symbol to victory. "The youth must unite to ensure the victory of the 'Sheaf of Paddy,' so that a beautiful, modern, and developed Bangladesh can be built," he said.

The rally was presided over by Mir Shahe Alam, President of Shibganj Upazila BNP and a former MP candidate. Other BNP leaders, including Advocate Abdul Wahab, Tajul Islam, Mir Shimanto, and Khalid Hasan Arman, also spoke.

Earlier in the day, before the rally, Mir Snigdha visited the shrine of Hazrat Shah Sultan Balkhi (Rh.) in the Mahasthan area and toured the archaeological site.
