Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was reportedly ‘hurt’ watching a video footage of Nazmul Hasan Papon gambling at a casino. The premier watched the footage of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president after it went viral through different social media including facebook and youtube.

According to a report published Friday by amadershomoy.com, Sheikh Hasina watched the video footage and was ‘tremendously hurt’ witnessing Papon, son of former President Zillur Rahman and late Women Awami League chief Ivy Rahman, in the role of a gambler. Quoting sources ‘close to the PM’ the report said that the video footage hurt Sheikh Hasina a lot as it surfaced at a time when a countrywide drive against casino culture and anti-corruption is ongoing.

Mentionable, the video came to light immediately after world’s number one all-rounder and superstar Shakib Al Hasan had been banned from all kinds of cricket by the International Cricket Board for not reporting an offer from a gambler. Papon’s role in Shakib’s ban was heavily criticised as he reportedly remained inactive even after knowing that the ban was coming.

Moreover, the footage created a widespread sensation all across the country and criticism is on countrywide regarding the gambling by the BCB president who desperately tried to save Mohamedan’s Lokman after his arrest on charges of being involved in casino culture.
