Sheikh Hasina Book Fair kicks off in Cox’s Bazar

Sheikh Hasina Book Fair has been inaugurated at Cox's Bazar on the occasion of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s 77th birthday. 

Poet Manik Bairagi organised this event for the first time at Chakaria upazila headquarters of the district.

Director General of Bangla Academy, Kavi Muhammad Nurul Huda, inaugurated the fair at the system complex square of Chakaria city on Monday.

Member of Parliament for Cox's Bazar 1 Constituency Zafar Alam was the chief guest at the event.

Poet Manik Bairagi, the founder of Sheikh Hasina Book Fair, presided over the opening ceremony. Convener of the fair implementation committee Chakaria municipality Awami League president Jahedul Islam Litur spoke in it, Tanveer Ahmed Siddiqui Tuhin,

Chakaria Municipal Awami League General Secretary Lion Alamgir Chowdhury, Chakaria City College Principal Salauddin Mahmud, Chakaria University College Former Principal Padmalochan Barua, Bamubilchari UP Chairman Manjurul Quader along with representatives of civil society, social organizations and leaders of various political parties were present.

On the occasion, Director General of Bangla Academy Kavi Nurul Huda said that if you want to know, you have to read. So there is no substitute for reading to know.

Poet Manik Bairagi said, "This small event of mine is aimed at presenting various issues of Bangabandhu and Bengali ethnicity to the future generations. Children of the next generation should read these books. So I organized this in an upazila town like Chakria to bring the texts within their reach.

Sheikh Hasina Book Fair started for the first time with 12 stalls of 12 publications in Dhaka Chittagong. The fair will run from 9 am to 9 pm every day for the next five days.

On the occasion of the fair, cultural programs and felicitations are being given every day.
