Shazam has officially surpassed 100 billion song recognitions, a monumental milestone for the music discovery app. To put this into perspective, that’s 12 songs identified for every person on Earth. Reaching 100 billion would take someone identifying a song every second for over 3,000 years.
Since its launch in 2002, Shazam has evolved from a simple SMS service in the UK to a global platform integrated into Apple products.
The app now allows users to identify music on iOS, macOS, and Android devices, even while wearing headphones or using smartwatches.
According to Apple Newsroom published on Tuesday, Shazam's success can be seen in the recognition of new tracks, such as Benson Boone’s "Beautiful Things," which hit 10 million recognitions in just 178 days.
With over 300 million active users, Shazam continues to drive music discovery, connecting fans with the artists they love.
