Netrokona unit of Bangladesh Baul Samitee formed a human chain on Press Club road in Netrakona on Tuesday demanding immediate and unconditional release of folk singer Sharyat Sarker Bayati.
The human chain was addressed, among others, by Abdul Hakim, president of Netrakona' Baul Sammitee, Baul Abdul Hakim, Vice-President of Netrakona Press Club Advocate Abdul Hannan Ranjan, NTV Correspondent Bajan Das, Baul Habil Sarker, Baul Abul Basar Talukder, Baul Nakul Sarker Baul Sarmin Sarker, Baul Chadni Sarker and Baul Sharif Sarker.
Speakers at the human chain said that Bangladesh was built on the basis of secularism. “We have never wished that a social system that could hurt freedom of speech. We are determined to stop the plot being made to from this country a communal state,” they said.
