Sharhan Ali has become the youngest captain of a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in Bangladesh.

At the age of just 38, he has taken charge of this highly trained and prestigious position of the national flag carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines. On Monday (May 26), A.B.M. Rawshan Kabir, General Manager of the Public Relations Department, gave this information in a press release.

According to Biman sources, Sharhan Ali is a third-generation pilot in the aviation sector of Bangladesh. His grandfather, Captain Sikandar Ali, was a pilot of Pakistan International Airlines and was martyred in the 1971 Liberation War. His father, Captain Shoaib Ali, served in Biman Bangladesh Airlines for more than four decades.

Born on July 29, 1986, Sharhan Ali’s journey to become a pilot began from the Bangladesh Flying Club. He obtained a Commercial Pilot License (CPL) and an Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) under the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAB).

He started his career in a private airline in 2008 and joined Biman Bangladesh Airlines in 2010 at the age of just 24.

At the age of 34, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and at the age of 38, he took over as the captain of a Boeing 777-300ER.

Sharhan has more than 9,300 hours of flight experience.

He has mastered the skills of operating aircraft models such as Dash-8, Fokker-28, Airbus-310, Boeing 737 and 777. He has also participated in various important missions, including operating a VVIP flight, a 12-hour ferry flight, and bravely piloting aircraft during cyclones ‘Sitrang’ and ‘Remal’.

A Biman spokesperson said, “Sharhan Ali’s achievement is not only personal, but also a matter of national pride. He has become a symbol of inspiration for the younger generation.”

Aviation analysts believe that Sharhan’s achievement proves that the sky is not the limit, but the beginning of a new journey.
