Several incidents of violence against women in Bangladesh have caused many people to become concerned. People have taken to social media to raise their voice against the heinous crime. Various stars

Meher Afroz Shaon

Popular actress and director Meher Afroz Shaon has become vocal about various social issues. Rape has been on the rise in the country in recent times. She has demanded punishment for the rapists involved in the rape incident in Sylhet Begumganj.

She wrote, “Death penalty or crossfire, no punishment is enough for them. It won’t suffice if you let them die so easily! Let there be such a severe punishment for the rapist that they wish for their own death at every moment. Let that horrific punishment be carried out in front of a huge crowd under the Swadhinata Stambha, let it be broadcast live on all the television channels so that every possible rapist is shocked. So that none even consider thinking of ever committing rape…”

Chanchal Chowdhury

Renowned actor Chanchal Chowdhury is often vocal about social injustices. This time too, the scene is not so different. He has shared a status on his officials Facebook profile for all to see:

“An organ can’t commit rape alone,

The inhuman residing in the mind tempts one to rape...

The death penalty is not enough for them. Let the sex organs of these people be cut off from their body in public...

So that no evil intention can take root in their sex organs...

Only then will this barbarism stop...

We do not want to hear any cries of human rights in the application of this harsh punishment...

At the same time, we want proper and strict implementation of law...

Let the punishment be exemplary....

There is nothing beyond that....

Let's protest...”
