Bangladesh is abuzz with anticipation for the upcoming T20 World Cup, following the ODI World Cup. The question on everyone's mind is whether Bangladesh can leave behind the disappointment from the previous World Cup in India and shine in the T20 World Cup set to begin on June 1.

The captain of the Tigers Najmul Hossain Shanto has reached out to the nation, seeking blessings for the team. Last Saturday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) conducted a unique fitness assessment at the Bangabandhu National Stadium's athletics track to gauge the cricketers' readiness for the World Cup. Participants included players from all three cricketing formats: Test, ODI, and T20. The players also took part in a training session on Friday ahead of the Zimbabwe series.

The southpaw batter reflected on the highs and lows of his career and shared with the media how he navigated through tough times. At one point, Shanto appealed to the citizens for their prayers for both himself and the team.

Shanto expressed, "In an athlete's life, there are inevitable downturns. However, I've never allowed myself to be overwhelmed by poor performance. My focus has always been on my plan, the integrity of my work, and my self-belief. These are the things I hold dear."

He further added, "During those challenging periods, my sole concern was whether I was fulfilling my responsibilities. My self-assurance in my rightful place here has brought me this far. Yet, I'm aware there's still a long journey ahead. Therefore, I humbly request everyone's prayers. Let's all pray, particularly for the Bangladesh team, so that we may excel."
