Rangpur Riders have roped Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka for the remainder of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and English pacer Reece Topley has been signed for Fortune Barishal.
The development of player signing was confirmed by the franchises to Cricfreny.
Shanaka was included as a direct signing to the Khulna Tigers during the draft of BPL, but now he will join Rangpur in the midst of the tournament. Shanaka featured for Gulf Giants in ILT20, recently, the all-rounder scored 148 runs in 9 matches.
Whereas, Topley will join Barishal's camp after completing SAT20, where he appeared in three matches and took three wickets for the team.
Both Rangpur and Barishal have confirmed their spot in the playoffs. The table-toppers Sylhet Strikerst and Comilla Victorians are the other two teams in the top four.
“I knew I needed three wickets. I was getting wickets. When I got the last wicket (100th), it felt really good. I probably achieved the milestone as a second bowler. It felt really good,” said Rubel.
"There is Shakib Bhai at number one, I know. Shakib Bhai is supposed to stay. He takes so many wickets in every BPL. It's great to be by his side in any achievement. But it took me a while to attain the feat.
Rubel also mentioned that he did not get a chance to play in the last two BPL’s, but was still happy to have reached the milestone in his career.
“In fact, I did not get a chance to play in the last two BPL’s. Otherwise, it would have happened earlier. Still, it's nice to be able to do it as the first pacer,” he added.
