Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is set to return to the country from USA on Sunday through a Qatar Airways flight, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official said.

He will be accompanied by his mother Shirin Reza.

The premier all-rounder of the world returned to the country on November 8 to take part in the Bangabandhu T20 Cup after the ICC ban was lifted on October 29. Towards the end of the tournament, when he found out about his father-in-law’s illness, he boarded a flight on the morning of December 15.

However, after getting on the plane, Shakib got the news of his father-in-law’s death. 17 days later, with the upcoming West Indies series in mind, this ace all-rounder is returning to the country.

Shakib Al Hasan’s mother Shirin Reza went to the USA to see her beloved granddaughter after the birth of Irum Hasan, the second daughter of the Shakib-Shishir couple in April last year.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) airport coordinator Washim Khan confirmed the news of his return.

He said, “Shakib will arrive in Dhaka tomorrow at 10 am with his mother on Qatar Airlines.”

The Bangladesh team is scheduled to start training camp on January 10. The West Indies team will also due in Bangladesh on that day.

Meanwhile, Shakib is set to become a father to a third child with wife Umme Ahmed Shishir. The duo has been staying together in the United States of America from the month of March 2020 ever since the COVID-19 pandemic started wreaking havoc all around the world. Having not played international cricket for over 15 months, he has had a tough time of late.

As far as their third child is concerned, Shakib posted an adorable picture when he was seen kissing Shishir’s baby bump. The affection in Shakib’s eyes for his better-half was pretty palpable when he was planting the kiss with his eyes closed.

The veteran captioned the picture and wrote, “New year, new beginning, new addition. Happy new year to everyone,”

The ICC ODI No.1 all-rounder didn’t reveal any more details. But the photo went viral on social media with everyone asking - is Shakib going to become a dad again?

Wishes and greetings poured on after posting the photo. National cricket teammate Rubel commented “Congratulations brother.”

As of 8:00pm on Friday, the photo drew 183,000 likes, 27,000 comments and 6,200 shares in Shakib’s official Facebook page and 97,000 likes in Instagram.

When contacted to verify whether Shakib-Shishir couple is going to have another baby, their family members couldn’t clarify.

The 33-year old returned to competitive cricket through the recently concluded Bangabandhu T20 Cup following the completion of his one-year ban imposed by the International Cricket Council.

Shakib was slammed with the ban after being found guilty of failing to report multiple corrupt approaches.

He played for tournament champions Gemcon Khulna but had to leave before the final to attend to his ailing father-in-law in the United States.
