The ace all-rounder and the former national team’s captain of Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan, who decided to play the Dhaka Premier League in (DPL) cricket rather than to play the first three T-20 matches of the ongoing five-match series against Zimbabwe, smashed a century on Friday.
Shakib, who thought that playing in the DPL would be as a part of his preparation for Zimbabwe series, joined his team Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club after returning from the United States of America.
He is also shining with the bat when he struck a century against Gazi Group Cricketers at BKSP Ground 4 on Friday.
Interestingly, this is the first ton of Shakib in a 50-over fixture in domestic cricket when one of the best all-rounders in the all formats in world cricket, has nine centuries in the international tournaments. The last time he hit a century in the 50-over format or in any international match during the 2019 World Cup, where he scored 124 not out against West Indies in Taunton. Shakib on his hammered the century on way to piling up a whopping 606 runs in eight matches.
The veteran all-rounder played a dazzling innings of 107 runs off 79 balls with clubbing nine fours and seven sixes.
Shakib's getting form with the bat ahead of the World Cup is a big news for the team.
