Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan again shows his clinical all-round performance in his second match with Barbados Tridents against St Lucia Zouks on Sunday in the seventh season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Barbados Tridents sealed a spot in the playoffs as they trounced St Lucia Zouks by 24 runs in front of their home fans on Sunday. The visitors were 111 for 5 at one stage in chase of 141 but Hayden Walsh inspired a collapse as they folded for 117 report agencies.
Shakib contributed with both bat and bowl as he scored 22 runs off 21 balls with 2 fours and in bowling he was both economical and wicket-taker. He finished with the figure of 4-0-20-1 and took the all-important wicket of Zouks' star player Colin Ingram.
After winning the toss, Shakib's Barbados Tridents opted to bat first and managed to score a fighting total of 141 runs losing 6 wickets. Opener Johnson Charles continues his great form in this year's CPL and scroed a timely knock of 47 runs off 36 balls. Krishmar Santokie and Hardus Viljoen both took 2 wickets for Zouks.
Chasing the target of 142 runs, opener Andre Fletcher (8) and Rahkeem Cornwall (19) departed early. After that, two-star player Colin Ingram and Colin de Grandhome started to build-up the innings with their all-out attack but at the right time Shakib came and took the most important wicket of the match of Ingram. He scored 25 runs off 17 balls.
After his departure, ST Lucia Zouks collapsed badly and lost their last 7 wickets by scoring just 40 runs. Leg-spinner Hayden Walsh and left-arm fast-medium bowler Harry Gurney took six wickets among the last seven and earned the win for their team by 24 runs. Walsh took 4 wickets while Gurney took 3 wickets for Barbados Tridents.
