In a bid to return to the field, Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has finally started individual training session. He started practicing in Savar’s BKSP on Saturday.
Shakib left for BKSP on Friday for training. Then on Saturday he started practicing from 8 am.
BKSP public relations officer Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman confirmed the media.
He said, “Shakib came here on Friday afternoon and took rest on that day. As a former student of this institution he is very comfortable here.
He came here on his own initiative. It is not a part of BCB’s plan. Not a part of BKSP either.
“Shakib started working on his fitness this morning. He started to practice since 8 am. He will do his fitness training for one week after which he will start the skill training. Then gradually he will start skill training. In that case Salahuddin and Fahim will help him out.”
“He will stay here for two months until his ban ends. He is staying in a VIP rest house.”
Earlier, the ICC banned Shakib from all forms of cricket for a year for hiding a match fixing offer. Shakib's ban will expire on October 28. Shakib will be able to return to international cricket before October 29.
At that time, however, the Bangladesh team will play a three-match Test series against Sri Lanka. BCB is desperate to get Shakib in the team for the second Test. Shakib is also desperate to return to cricket.
