Shakib’s Kiwi tour in doubt

Bangladesh are scheduled to visit New Zealand this March. Shakib Al Hasan, one of the best cricketers in the country, might not play in this series. However, the all-rounder has expressed anger over how the news came out in the media as he himself is not sure whether he will play or not.

Bangladesh secured whitewash by defeating West Indies by 120 runs at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Monday. Shakib is not at ease even after such a victory. The star has suffered a groin injury during the match. So, there are fears over his inclusion in the upcoming Test series against Windies. He is also annoyed at the fact that the matter of his likely absence for the Kiwi series is already been discussed in the media.

When asked if he was going to the New Zealand series at the press conference, Shakib said, “Look, you can get a good idea about this matter after the Test series. These matters are discussed inside the dressing room, I do not know how they come out in the media. The team management and I will have a chat about this, only then I will know whether I’ll be able to take part or not.”

A few days ago, Shakib shared a picture with his wife Umme Ahmed Shishir on social media. According to the source, the star is going to be the father of his third child. It is known that his unborn child will be able to see the light of the world on March. So, Shakib may want to be beside his wife’s side at that time. Rumours of not going to the New Zealand series have been circulating ever since.

After his one-year ICC exile, Shakib played domestic cricket but returned to international cricket with this series. The cricketer was at his best with both the bat and bowl during the series. In this series, however, Shakib could not bat in his preferred position. The star all-rounder, who performed brilliantly at number three in the World Cup, has played at number four during the series. The cricketer, who normally likes to bat in an aggressive mood, has batted at a very slow pace at number four. Shakib, however, was ok with it and said he has no hesitation to bat at any number.
