Bangladesh red-ball skipper Shakib al Hasan praised and credited fast-bowler Taskin Ahmed for a turnover in the side’s pace attack.
Shakib believes that the right-handed pacer has become a role model for the rest of the bowlers and appreciated Taskin for improving the pace unit.
“Taskin deserves to be praised. In the last two or three years, Taskin has shown how a pace bowler can actually grow or move forward and improve his skills. I think many people follow him. That’s a big reason why our pace bowlers are doing so well,” said Shakib
“Pacers have been bowling well for the last many days and they are trying to put a lot of effort. That’s what is most needed. They believe that they can bring a change. They have this belief and I think they will try. They plan a lot. They are trying to do something together, which is why they are actually being so successful,” added Shakib.
Left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam will leave for St Lucia tonight [Monday] to join the Bangladesh squad for the second Test match against the West Indies starting on 24 June.
Bangladesh left-arm quick was carrying a right-hand fracture from the middle of Sri Lanka series which ruled him out from that series and also from the first Test against West Indies.
The 21-year-old has played 4 Tests for Bangladesh since making his debut in April 2021. Bangladesh were without their prime pacer, Taskin Ahmed, already. Shoriful’s injury forced BCB to bring Mustafizur Rahman back in the Test side. Bangladesh trail the series 0-1 after losing the first Test in Antigua by 7 wickets. The second Test will begin on 24 June.
