Shakib al Hasan, Bangladesh's all-rounder, is expected to miss the opening Test against hosts South Africa. The Southpaw, however, is supposed to return to South Africa to play the second Test.

Shakib will fly back home tomorrow after the third and the final one-day international against the Proteas at the Centurion today [Wednesday].

“Tomorrow [Thursday] Shakib will fly to the country. He may rejoin the team before the second Test. But everything depends on the physical condition of his family members” BCB cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus quoted to the Daily Star.

Bangladesh will take on hosts South Africa in the first of the two Tests in Durban from March 31st. The second Test is scheduled from April 8 in Port Elizabeth.

Left-arm all-rounder has been going through a tough mental situation in South Africa as his family members have been dealing with various illnesses in Dhaka.

Shirin Akhter, Shakib's mother, has been in the hospital for a few days due to cardiac difficulties.

The cricketer’s only son and youngest daughter have also been admitted to the hospital as they are suffering from pneumonia.

His eldest daughter has also been suffering from cold and fever. Shakib’s mother-in law, who is suffering from cancer, is also admitted to hospital.
