Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan have been listed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for the Lankan Premier League (LPL) auction, report agencies.
Along with Shakib, Chris Gayle, Daren Sammy, Darren Bravo, Shahid Afridi, Ravi Bopara, Colin Munro, Vernon Philander and Munaf Patel are some of the international players to go under the hammer for the Lanka Premier League auction, which will be held on October 1. In all, the five franchises will have a choice of around 150 players to bid for.
However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to take any formal decision on Shakib’s issue. Shakib’s ban will be lifted on October 29 and as his ban is going on, as per ICC guideline, he can’t be involved in any kind of cricket. Therefore the question rose, how he can be involved in the auction process for the LPL.
The BCB CEO Nizamuddin Chowdhury however said that they are yet to get any formal approach from Sri Lanka. He added, they will take the decision on this if they are approached.
“We’ve not yet received any formal approach. We will think about it if we get any proposal,” the CEO said yesterday.
