A man had died of Covid 19 at Shailkupa upazila of Jhenidah. The deceased was identified as Gopal Krishna Saha, 62, of Kabirpur village under Shailkupa municipality. Upazila health and family planning officer (UHFPO) Dr. Rashed Al Mamun had confirmed the matter on June 12 (Friday).
UHFPO said as they were suspecting the death due to corona virus, sent the samples of slabs of Gopal Krishna Saha to testing in the concern laboratory on June 7 (Sunday). The test report found that the middle-aged man was infected with the disease.
He was the first man who died of corona virus in Shailkupa upazila. They had locked down the house marking with red-flag, UHFPO said.
