Upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Shailkupa in Jhenidah has allegedly re-instates a headmaster ignoring the norms of the education board when the headmaster was put under suspension for a cheque embezzlement allegation of putting fake signature of the UNO on the cheque.

Re-instating order of the headmaster by the UNO had sparked reaction among the school teachers and cornered people in the upazila.

Locals and the investigation report by the concerned officer said UNO Saiful had suspended the headmaster Mosharraf Hossain of Tribeni High school when he was proved guilty in putting fake signature of UNO Saiful Islam on a bank cheque on February 5 this year for an amount of Taka 1.17 lakh at Sonali Bank Sheikhpara Bazer branch in Shailkupa upazila.

As the bank authority could not be satisfied with the signature of the chairman of the school managing committee (SMC), the manager informed the matter to UNO with a confessional statement given by the said headmaster on 13th of the month.

To probe the matter UNO Saiful Islam advised Upazila Secondary Education Officer (USEO) in Shailkupa Shamim Ahmed Khan and the investigation authority found about the forged sign given by the said headmaster Mosharraf Hossain.

Then the UNO as well as management committee chairman Saiful Islam had suspended him. The news of the misdeed as well as the suspension of the said teacher was aired in many electronic media and published in a number of newspapers and news portals.

Locals said although the duration of the adhoc committee of the school formed by the board of intermediate and secondary education (BISE) in Jashore was ended on May 13, the UNO reinstated the headmaster ignoring the norms of the board. UNO Saiful Islam unethically issued a letter for withdrawing the suspension of the headmaster Mosharraf Hossain on last May 20.

UNO Saiful Islam informed the media activists that he had withdrawn the suspension considering the matter in humanitarian ground, while did not make any comment about unethically issuing the suspension withdraw letter when the tenure of the adhoc committee was over on May 13.

On the other hand, chairman of BISE in Jashore Dr. Molla Amir Hossain when contacted over cell phone, said withdrawal of suspension by the president of the previous committee was not ethical. They will not entertain this sort of decision and look into the matter soon.
