Shahin Alam, fourth year student of Mass Communication and Journalism (BA Hons) department, first year student Khalid Mohibullah of Development Studies jointly became champions in the Annual Sports Competition of the Sergeant Jahirul Haque hall of the Dhaka University on Thursday.
Alamgir Hossain, student of MSS in final year, became runner up in the competition.
Vice-chancellor of the Dhaka University Professor Dr ASM Maksud Kamal inaugurated the ceremony as the chief guest as Treasurer of the University Professor Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed distributed prizes among the winners after conclusion the competition on Thursday. The Vice-chancellor in his speech told that sports is very important for the students - “To be disciplined, physically sound and be attentive in their study students should take part in sports.”
“Students, who have engagement with sports and other curriculums side by side of their academic, could establish themselves as skilled and eligible persons in the society,” said Dr. Maksud.
Meanwhile, the hall provost Dr. Abdur Rahim presided over the function. President of the Athletics Committee of the university Dr. Emran kabir Chowdhury, President of the Teachers Association Nizmul Haque Bhuiyan were present on the occasion. Pro-Voice Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Samad was present on the occasion as the chief guest and distributed the prizes among the winners.
