Shahed lands in jail after remand

A Satkhira court on Wednesday sent Regent Group Chairman Md Shahed alias Shahed Karim to jail upon completion of a 10-day remand in an arms case.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Rajiv Kumar Roy gave the order after Investigating Officer of the case Sub-Inspector Rezaul Karim produced him before it amid tight security.

Court Inspector Amal Kumar Roy confirmed the matter to the Bangladesh Post.

On July 26, Shahed was placed on a 10-day remand in an arms case filed with Debhata Police Station in Satkhira. 

On July 15, a team of Rapid Action Battalion arrested Shahed, who came to limelight due to   fraud over coronavirus testing, with an illegal arms near the Bridge of Lavanyavati River in Komarpur village of Debhata upazila. 

Later, a case was filed against him with the Debhata police station under the Arms Act. On July 26, Shahed was placed on a 10-day remand in the arms case.
