Shafi Ahmed and Shishir Rahman have been awarded the Munir Chowdhry and Zakaria Smriti Padak respectively by the theatre troupe Natoker Dal. Under the patronage of IFIC Bank, the Munir Chowdhury award winner Prof Shafi Ahmed, department of English, Jahangirnagar University, was presented with Tk 50,000 and Zakari Padak winninig Shishir Rahman, founding member of Munshiganj Theatre Circle, received Tk 25,000. Samia Mohsin and Tamanna Islam read the nomination papers for the medalists. On Wednesday evening, Emeritus Professor Sirajul Islam Chowdhury handed over the medals and prize money at the programme held at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Organizing director Ramendu Majumder gave the welcome speech while Ferdousi Majumder presided over the programme.
Finally, two plays by Munir Chowdhury titled ‘Shami Shaheber Onoshonbroto’ and ‘Gotokal Eid Chhilo’. Regular members of the troupe staged the plays. The theater has been awarding the commemorating Munir Chowdhury since 1989 and commemorating Zakaria since 1997.
