Shadman’s 93 goes in vain as India ‘A’ win series

Opener Shadman Islam’s unbeaten 93 could not save the home side as Bangladesh 'A' team lost by an innings and 123 runs against India 'A' in the second unofficial Test in Sylhet Friday. India won the two match series 1-0.

Mominul Haque, who returned to the squad for the upcoming India series, could not use the last chance to get back into rhythm before the first Test in Chattogram.

Not only this experienced batter, others in the middle order have also joined the procession of failure. Only Shadman continued to fight but he had to stop at the edge of the century because of a support from others.

Bangladesh managed to save the match for the last wicket partnership after a strong fight on the last day in the previous match. Something like that was needed this time too. But the batters couldn’t write the same script.

Mominul got out with a loose shot by left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar as he managed only 6 runs off 31 balls. After recent failures in Tests and domestic cricket he grabbed only 42 runs from four innings in these unofficial Test series.

Saurabh took six wickets in the first innings. The previous day he played an innings of 55 runs off 39 balls.
