Popularly known by her screen name Shabnam in both Bangladesh and Pakistan film industries, veteran actress Jharna Basak has been bestowed with the lifetime achievement award in Pakistan. She received the award at the ‘18th Lux Style Awards’ at Karachi Expo Centre in Karachi on Sunday.
Alongside Shabnam, renowned Pakistani actor Nadeem Baig was also honoured with the lifetime achievement award on the same stage.
Accompanied by her only son Roni Ghosh, the veteran film actress flew in to Pakistan all the way from Dhaka to attend the ceremony. She was given a rich tribute by the artistes of young generation through a flashback performance.
Regarding this Shabnam says, “A few years ago, I was honoured earlier with the lifetime achievement award at a programme in Pakistan. But this time around, the ‘Lux Style Awards’ seemed way more gorgeous than that programme. Even, I had to perform with a young hero on the stage. Iam grateful to Lux Style for everything. I can’t explain in words how big this achievement is for me!”
Shabnam is currently appearing in the title role of an ongoing serial titled ‘Mohini Mansion Ki Cinderellayain’ on a Pakistani TV channel.
Shabnam worked in a total of 160 films, including 152 Urdu films, 14 Bengali and four Punjabi films. She was nominated for Nigar awards several times, winning it 13 times (the most for an actress).
