Seven Takkhak rescued in Sitakunda, 5 arrested

A team of the District Intelligence Police has recovered seven extinct Takkhak in Baro Kumira area of Sitakunda Upazila of Chattogram.  Meanwhile, five people involved in the incident have been arrested.  They were arrested in front of the King of Kumira Convention Hall on the highway on Monday.

 The arrested persons are: Md Nilchan Sheikh Prakash Rabbi (26), Md Ali Akbar Sheikh (30), Imam Sheikh (22), Md Jahangir Alam (47) and Md Muktar Hossain (45).

 Additional Superintendent of Police (Industrial Area and DB) Asaduzzaman said, based on secret information, a special team led by DB officer-in-charge Kamruzzaman arrested the accused.  

At this time, 7 extinct Takshaks were recovered from them.  The Takshaks have been handed over to the Directorate of Wildlife Conservation in Chattogram.  Also, a case was registered against the accused in Sitakunda police station.

Chattogram District Detective (DB) Officer-in-Charge Md. Kamruzzaman said, in the operation, we arrested five people including seven taxi drivers.  A case under Section 34(B)/41 of the Wildlife (Preservation and Security) Act, 2012 has been registered against the five persons at Sitakunda Model Police Station.
