A Lakshmipur court Thursday sentenced seven men to life term imprisonment for murdering a man named Ahsan Ullah in Lakshmipur Sadar upazila in 2014.
District and Session Judge Mohammod Rahibul Islam handed down the verdict to Sumon, Murad, Jakir Hossain, Ripon, Nishan, Kamal and Alamgir.
According to the prosecution, on July 26 in 2014 Ahsan Ullah, a resident at Nandigram village, was hacked to death by the convicts at night on his way home from Poddar Bazar. Following the murder his son Md Alam filed a case.
Police pressed the charge sheet on June 26 in 2015 accusing the seven men.
Testifying witnesses and evidences the court gave the order in presence of Sumon. The rest are in run, said Public Prosecutor (PP) advocate Jasim Uddin.
The court also fined each convicts Taka 10,000.
