Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has asked the diplomats and officials of all diplomatic missions abroad to serve the Bangladeshi expatriates with ‘smile’.

He also asserted that “strict actions would be taken against any kind of negligence in discharging the duty, reluctance to provide services and disrespectful behaviour”.

Dr Momen gave those instructions at a virtual meeting with the Bangladeshi ambassadors in European countries, the foreign ministry said in a statement on Friday.

He directed the head of missions to ensure that no employee of the Bangladesh missions misbehaved with the service recipients.

The foreign minister’s directives came following recent reports of Bangladeshi expatriates facing difficulties in getting services in different missions.

He directed the ambassadors to upgrade the quality of services and take immediate action after hearing the problems and complaints of the service recipients.

He also asked them to keep the embassy hotline open round the clock.
