While addressing the inauguration ceremony of a special art exhibition titled ‘1973-2023 Retrospective’ in the capital Dhaka Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the artworks can awaken patriotism and a spirit amongst the people. Bangladesh Post on Saturday ran a story headlined ‘Serve nation with spirit of Liberation War’ that detailed the premier speech and the event as well.
The spirit, ideals and history of the War of Liberation were erased following the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1975. Besides, country’s artworks, culture and heritage were also completely destroyed. But the poets, artists, litterateurs and writers have played a pivotal role in retaining the spirit of the War of Liberation through their works. Since they kept up the spirit during that time, the politicians, later restored democracy and ensured the voting rights of the people through political ways and finally took steps to build the country in line with the spirit of the War of Liberation.
Bangladesh is now a safe haven for all people irrespective of caste, creed, and religious affinity as communal harmony exists here. But after ‘75, the anti-liberation clique, war criminals, defeated forces, the August 15 killers had wanted to divide the country with communalism. They also wanted to make Bangladesh unstable and exploit the people of the country with communalism.
The country’s people being
imbued with the spirit of the
War of Liberation must foil
the conspirators’ evil design
Our youths were misguided and got involved themselves in various crimes, destroying country’s artworks, cultures, values and norms during the regime of military dictators Ziaur Rahman and HM Ershad and Begum Khaleda Zia. But now the spirit of the War of Liberation has started returning to the young generation of the country as Awami League has been in power since 2009.
Since then our poets, artists, litterateurs, writers and journalists have been enjoying the freedom of expressions. The state is also honoring them in many ways and stays with them in any crisis period.
National unity has already been created against the anti-liberation and communal forces. We believe the creative personalities will work together with dedication and motto of self-sacrifice to retain the unity upholding the spirit of the Liberation War as they are being provided all supports and cooperation.
The anti-liberation and communal forces led by BNP-Jamaat clique are still conspiring against the country in many ways and trying to destroy the creative artworks based on the ideals of the Liberation War. Therefore, the country’s people being imbued with the spirit of the War of Liberation must foil the conspirators’ evil design.
