Seminar on skills for foreign employment held

A seminar on ‘Skills and Awareness for Foreign Employment’ was held at the Magura Sadar Upazila Parishad auditorium on Monday afternoon. Shoaib Ahmad, joint secretary of the Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Foreign Employment, was present as chief guest in the programme, while Magura Deputy Commissioner Ashraful Alam was in the chair. 

Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Abu Sufian, Magura Technical Training Center Principal Arif Hossain Talukder, Sadar Upazila Vice Chairman Minti Rani Dutt, Raghabdair Union Parishad Chairman Ashraful Alam Bablu Fakir, Surja Kanto Biswas, Principal of Magura Adarsh College spoke among others. Hundreds of people from different classes of profession were present on the occasion.

According to the seminar, the Manpower Employment Training Bureau (BMET) is providing training at 6 IMTs, 64 technical institutes centers in the country to build skilled workers abroad. As a result, 5 lakh 83 thousand 768 skilled manpower has been created from 2014 to this year. 

All these skilled manpower are getting employment opportunities at home and abroad. About 1 lakh foreign workers are trained in 55 trades every year. Besides, six foreign languages including Japanese, Korean, Arabic, English, Cantonese are being trained. Driving courses have been launched in 41 TTCs for the employment of 1 lakh drivers in the Middle East. 

Housekeeping training is being provided to women workers in 40 TTCs. With the approval of the ministry to create skilled manpower on the side, some non-government recruitment agencies are providing advanced training to achieve their skills. Besides, the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare is implementing various programs to create skilled manpower.
