Seminar on repatriated migrant workers held

The Welfare Centre Jashore orchestrated a seminar on Thursday in Narail, exploring into the pivotal role projects play in aiding the reintegration of repatriated migrant workers. 

Held in the conference room of the Narail Deputy Commissioner, the event convened stakeholders and distinguished guests to discuss strategies for facilitating the seamless return of migrants into society. Julia Sukaina, the Deputy Director of Local Government from the Deputy Commissioner's Office, graced the occasion as the chief guest.  RAISE Project Deputy Director Md. Zahid Anwar elucidated initiatives tailored to support returning migrant workers, encompassing cash incentives, counselling, entrepreneurship training, and technical resettlement aid.

 Noteworthy is the enrollment of over 500 individuals in the district seeking assistance, with 182 beneficiaries already receiving incentives.

Diverse perspectives were shared at the seminar by esteemed speakers. including Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Lincon Biswas, and Additional District Magistrate (General) Md. Zubair Hossain Chowdhury, Professor Md. Robiul Islam from Govt Victoria College, Narail Municipality Mayor Anjuman Ara, and Narail Technical Training Centre Principal Engineer Abul Bashar Al Mamun. Steering the proceedings was Md. Zahid Anwar, Deputy Director of the Wages Earners Welfare Board.

Representatives from various sectors graced the event, including District and Sessions Judge Court PP Advocate Md. Imdadul Islam, Bangladesh Women Workers Centre Area Coordinator Jesmin Akter Kajal, Councillor of Welfare Centre Jashore Subrata Adhikari, and Assistant Director Md. Faisal Alam. The seminar attracted migrant workers from across the district, alongside government officials, legal professionals, freedom fighters, journalists, and individuals from diverse professional backgrounds.

Through collaborative endeavours and constructive dialogue, the seminar aimed to facilitate the seamless reintegration of repatriated migrant workers, empowering them to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to their communities in Narail and beyond.
