Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman has stressed the need for creating awareness among the students on mental health to make them smart citizens for Smart Bangladesh.
He called upon the students to enhance their qualities and skills for managing mental stress and depression.
He was speaking at a seminar on mental health and depression at the Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the campus on Thursday. The seminar was arranged on the occasion of the World Suicide Prevention Day-2023.
President of Dhaka University Alumni Association Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury chaired the seminar, while former secretary general of the association Ranjan Karmaker and director of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Dr. AQM Shafiul Azam spoke it as special guests.
Associate Professor of National Institute of Mental Health Dr. Helal Uddin Ahmed presented the keynote at the event, while Professor Dr. Shaheen Islam, Professor Dr. Mohammad Kamruzzaman Majumder and Professor Dr. Mehzabin Haque spoke on the occasion, among others.
