A national seminar on Environmental Conservation, Climate-Resilient and Responsible Tourism Governance and Partnership was held in Cox’s Bazar on Thursday.
The event took place at a hotel conference hall in the city and was organized by Enroute International under the ILO’s IJSAC Project, with the support of Global Affairs Canada. The seminar was inaugurated by Nuzhat Yasmin Chief Executive Officer of the Bangladesh Tourism Board and Additional Secretary to the Government.
Distinguished guests included Max Tunon, Country Director of ILO Bangladesh; Abu Daud Khan, Managing Director and CEO of Enroute International; Md. Moazzem Hossain, Deputy Director of the Department of Youth Development; Professor Dr. Sayeedur Rahman and Sadia Haque from the University of Dhaka; Jahanara Islam, President of the Cox’s Bazar Women Chamber of Commerce; and Riaz Ahmed, Editor of the Dhaka Tribune
Throughout the day-long seminar, policymakers, private sector leaders, tourism professionals, and local representatives discussed ways to foster inclusive and climate-resilient tourism development. Two high-level panel discussions were held, facilitating meaningful dialogue among industry experts, decision-makers, and community stakeholders.
The event also featured exhibitions showcasing eco-friendly hospitality services developed by women and youth entrepreneurs, along with local handicrafts, traditional cuisine, and destination-based experiences from Cox’s Bazar. The program concluded with a vibrant cultural evening celebrating local heritage and talent.
