A seminar titled “The Role of Stakeholders in Implementing Social Service Activities at the Upazila Level” was held on Wednesday morning at the Upazila Parishad Hall in Daganbhuiyan, Feni. The event was organised by the Daganbhuiyan Upazila Social Service Office.
The seminar was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shahidul Islam and attended by Saiful Islam Chowdhury, Deputy Director of the District Social Services Office; Md Shahid Ullah, Assistant Director; Kaiser Mahmud, City Social Services Officer; Ainul Hossain Jilani, Daganbhuiyan Upazila Social Service Officer; Md Imam Hasan Kochi, President of Feni Reporters Club; journalist Abdullah Al Mamun; among others.
Participants included people from different walks of life, including pensioners. In his address, Deputy Director Saiful Islam Chowdhury said the Social Services Office, under the Ministry of Social Welfare, is working for disadvantaged groups in society through nationwide social security programmes.
He highlighted key initiatives such as widow, old age and disability allowances, beggar rehabilitation, child protection, support for private orphanages, technical training, micro-credit schemes, medical assistance for patients with complex conditions, and services for the hijra community.
