Seminar held at MBSTU

A seminar titled ‘Seasonal Impact of Heavy Metal Concentration on Commercially Important Marine Fish, Shrimps and Carb in the Bay of Bengal Coast and the Implications for Human Health Risk in Bangladesh’ was held at the seminar hall of Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) in Tangail on Saturday.

Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor Dr Md Forhad Hossain inaugurated the seminar and spoke as the chief guest at the seminar.

Pro Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor Dr A.R.M. Solaiman, Dean of Faculty of Life Science Professor Dr Muhammad Umar Faruk and Chairperson of Environmental Science and Resource Management Professor Dr ASM Saifullah also spoke as special guests at the seminar. 

The chief investigator and treasurer of the university Professor Dr Md Sirajul Islam presented the main article. 

Professor of Bangladesh Agricultural University Professor Dr Md Aslam Ali and former CSO of Cox's Bazar BFRI Dr M Inamul Haque also spoke at the seminar.

Professor Dr Mir Md Mozammel Haque presided over the programme.

The speakers said if marine fisheries are polluted due to the effect of sea pollution, it will become a threat to humans. A total of 60% of fish demand in Bangladesh is met by marine fish. So, they stressed the importance of taking necessary measures to address the issue of sea pollution in order to export sea fish outside the country after meeting the needs of the country. The students and teachers of the faculty joined the seminar.
