A seminar titled 'Kemon Shiksha Babostha Chai' was held yesterday at RC Mazumder Auditorium, Dhaka University, focusing on education for underprivileged children. Organized by Amader Pathshala, a social initiative dedicated to providing quality education to children from low-income backgrounds, the event brought together renowned intellectuals, teachers, researchers, and writers to discuss and share ideas on improving the education system.
Amader Pathshala, entirely privately funded, aims to offer education that matches the socio-economic conditions and cultural backgrounds of its students. The initiative emphasizes quality humanities education and strives to make lessons engaging for children, addressing the key challenge of keeping them in school.
Speaking at the event, Abul Hasan Rubel, Director of Amader Pathshala, highlighted the institution's goal of creating a model for democratic education that could inspire broader changes in the country's education system. He emphasized the need for a shift in thinking to make quality education accessible for all children in Bangladesh.
The seminar was chaired by Professor Salimullah Khan, with participation from various notable figures, including writer and teacher Safiq Islam, Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua, researcher Samina Lutfa, writer and artist Arup Rahi, organizer and artist Amal Akash, teacher and artist Bithi Ghosh, and student leader Mashiur Rahman Richard, among others. They shared their insights and suggestions on restructuring the education sector, taking advantage of the recent rise in student activism.
Amader Pathshala's efforts are focused on making education interesting and relevant to students, and they are committed to using 100% of donations directly for student education. The seminar marked a step forward in their mission to improve the education landscape for underprivileged children in Bangladesh.
