Awami League held a condolence meeting in Gopalganj marking the National Mourning Day-2019 and 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The meeting was held at the district party office premises on Thursday.
MP from Gopalganj-2 constituency Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim addressed ther= meeting as the chief guest.
Deputy Minister for Education Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel spoke at the meeting as the special guest, while Freedom Fighter Chowdhury Emdadul Haque and others also spoke there with district Awami League president and chairman of Gopalganj Zila Parishad, in the chair.
It was attended, among others, by Sheikh Lutfar Rahman Bacchu, vice president of district Awami League and chairman of Sadar upazila, Kazi Liakat Ali, mayor of Gopalganj municipality, and Elias Haque, secretary of Gopalgnj district Awami League.
Earlier, Awami League leaders placed wreath at the graveyard of Bangabandhu in Tungipara and offered a special doa and Munajat seeking salvation of the departed souls of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members who laid their life on August 15, 1975.
