Renowned musician of the country Selim Ashraf has passed away in the early hours of Monday. At the time of his death he was 74 years old.
Eminent singer and wife of Selim Ashraf, Alam Ara Minu, has confirmed that he died around 3:00am.
His Namaz-e-Zanaza was at first held at Bangladesh TV premises in the afternoon and later on a second Namaz-e-Zanaza was held at the Kusumahati Union of Doha police station, in his home village Basta. Following this he was buried at the graveyard of the Bara Basta Madrasa.
Regarding his death Alam Ara Minu shared a status on Facebook, “Our family wants you to pray for his departed soul.”
He has composed many songs, made compositions and tunes in his 55 years of music life. With his death a dark cloud of gloom has shrouded the music arena of Bangladesh.
He was suffering from respiratory, blood and kidney problems.
The Prime Minister gave financial assistance for his treatment costs.
